<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">We have had a successful start to the school year. Our class is full of students who are excited to learn! Luna, our class guinea pig, has been a big hit. The students enjoy feeding her and learning all about what makes guinea pigs special.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">We have been learning about the fall season. Apples and apple trees have been a fall focus in class. We will get to tour an orchard when we enjoy our first field trip to Milburn Orchard on the 9th. Pumpkins will be a fall focus this month.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">Our class is preparing for Grandparent's Day on Friday, October 5th. Students will be singing on stage for their grandparents. After all classes have had a chance to perform, students will spend time with their grandparents in our classroom working together on a few activities. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">Our annual fundraising banquet is on Friday, October 19th. The fourth and fifth grade classes have a special performance to share. It is always a joy to watch children praising our Lord. I hope to see you there!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">In Bible class, we have learned about creation, Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and the twins, Jacob and Esau. We are learning about how much God loves us! We will continue with the story of Jacob and then spend time learning about Joseph and Moses. We will discover how God cared for his chosen people and kept his promises to them. Our whole class has done a wonderful job learning the assigned verses. Keep up the great work! Our next verse to learn is Genesis 8:22 "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease." This verse is due on October 11th.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">We have enjoyed many activities that have helped us learn our letters and their sounds. We will continue to learn our letters and use them to make words, rhymes, and sentences. Reading groups will start on October 2nd. Reading homework will begin the first week as well. Look for a reading bag to come home on the 4th with instructions. Please continue to use the sight word flashcards. See if your child can find those words in books, on signs, and at the store. I have seen improvement in student handwriting already. We are learning proper letter formation with our Handwriting without Tears books and app on the iPad. We will continue to use those tools this month as we build our small motor strength. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">Our class has great math minds! We have met the challenge of a new math curriculum and I have seen growth in skills already. We are learning how we can find multiple solutions to a math problem. Learning how to write our numbers is included in our math curriculum. We will get more practice writing numbers in the future with our handwriting book. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.</span><br />

Kindergarten! My name is Daisey Ingiosi and I had the pleasure of teaching
first grade at Bethany for eleven years before I jumped into an
administrative role during the past few years. Before teaching at
Bethany, I taught Kindergarten and afternoon preschool for four years at a small private
Christian school in West Grove until my daughter, Payton, was
born. She is 20 years old now - wow! Recently, I was reflecting on the impact
of sending Payton to Bethany during preschool, elementary, and middle
school. The benefits outweighed the sacrifices that we made. In
fact, I can think of nothing else that we invested in that had greater
importance. <o:p></o:p></span></span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: small;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt;">I am so
excited to be in the classroom again! I look forward to a wonderful year
full of growth and development in your little one. During the month
of September we will spend time getting to know each other, getting our
schedule to run smoothly and becoming aware of our class and school rules.

<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--><!--[endif]-->In
Bible this year, we will journey through a good part of the Old
Testament. We will learn one or two verses a month, depending on the
length of the verse, that relate to our Bible focus. Your child will
be quizzed on the verses orally. The verses and quiz dates will be posted
in your child's Bible journal and included in our monthly newsletter on
this blog. The Bible journal needs to return to school on the quiz date so
a new verse can be added. We will also study verses in class. Our school theme verse and the first one for memorization is: <strong><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif";">"</span></strong><em><b><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif";">Love one another with brotherly
affection. Outdo one another in showing honor." Romans 12:10. </span></b></em>The
quiz for this verse is on Thursday, September 13th. <o:p></o:p></span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: small;">

joys of Kindergarten is learning to read! Our reading program includes a
combination of using phonics to decode words and sight word
recognition. Students will meet with me in small groups each day.
Each student will have a reading book that will be used in class and
then sent home as reading homework. Reading homework will start a few
weeks after school begins. Details about reading homework books will
be forthcoming. I will send home sight word lists each quarter for
your child to practice.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: small;">

and writing are skills that are developed together. We will use the
Handwriting Without Tears program to strengthen our letter and number
formation. On Wednesdays, students will experience reading through
writing using Kid Writing activities.</span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt;"><br />
Our school has purchased a new math curriculum to use for grades
K-8. I am excited to use this resource in the classroom. This math
curriculum, Pearson's enVision, will challenge our students to stretch
their mathematical thinking. Your child will have a small amount of
homework they will bring home each night. Please complete and return the
next day. More information about math homework will be forthcoming.<br />
<br />
Students will eat a snack and lunch each day. Please send healthy options
for your child. In addition, please send a water bottle each day. They will be sent home each night for cleaning.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: small;"></span> </span></span><br />

will enjoy two recess periods a day and a short nap/rest in the
afternoon. Please send your child in play clothes as they may get dirty on
the playground. Please send a nap mat for your child's nap/rest time.<o:p></o:p></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt;">If
you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, you may email me at dingiosi@bethanychristian.org,
call the office at 610-998-0877, or send a note with your child.<br />
<br />
<o:p></o:p>I look forward to getting
to know you and your child. It will be exciting working together so that
your child has a positive, successful Kindergarten year! <br />
